A high spec accommodation block – sleeping up to 15 adults based on sustainability principles. The main two storey structure utilises recycled shipping containers that have been refurbished an adapted to provide a contemporary, functional, cosy and environmentally friendly accommodation area. Lighting is provided by solar energy which is a feature of the communal living space, construction and cabinetry materials have been recycled where possible, hot water by lpg.

The central area is a great place to unwind at the end of a long day or can be used as an area for data displays and presentations.

The building is a model for sustainable living in the 21st century.

High Ropes Course ( Native Course )

  • Situated in stand of Native trees onsite
  • Purpose built facility
  • The High Ropes Course consists of three circuit challenges with flying fox descent – 3 wire bridge, flying kiwi, high traverse, centipede, dangling duo.

  • Available to hire for visiting groups with TSB TOPEC instructor

Tail race

Tail Race

  • Controlled, artificial streamway from Power Station
  • 200m long, grade 2 rapids
  • Easy access onto Waiwhakaiho river ( grade 2/3 )
  • Large eddy to practice your rolling or for flat water / slow moving water group sessions
  • Excellent venue for river safety education
  • Great for introduction to rafting

  • The Waiwhakaiho River borders the TSB TOPEC campus
  • Ideal for coaching all kinds of paddling skills – kayaking, rafting, bugging
  • Runs as a grade 2 / 3 white-water trip that runs through the city of New Plymouth to the Sea
