Join us on the adventure of a lifetime. Who knows, it may even be the start of a new pastime.
Adult Adventure – Multisport Kayaking
Thinking about competing in the Coast to Coast or other similar races? Gain confidence with our qualified staff to paddle longer, multisport boats in grade 2 rivers. At TSB TOPEC we will introduce you to techniques in short boats on flat water before progressing to white-water / moving water kayaking and self-rescue techniques.
Adult Adventure – Kayaking
For paddlers, TSB TOPEC couldn’t be in a better place. We’re surrounded by all kinds of water, from the fast-flowing rivers and still, picturesque lakes, to the rolling surf and tidal streams of the Taranaki coast.
That’s not all. We’ve our own river at the bottom of the garden with a section of grade 2 rapids!
All the equipment you use on your course is modern and well maintained. If you’d like to learn to paddle, improve your technique quickly, or just get out there and soak up some of Taranaki’s finest water, pick a course from our kayaking and canoe programme and give us a call.
Adult Adventure – Weekend Warriors
If you’ve never tried any of the increasingly popular ‘adventure sports’ this is a perfect way to have a go. A fast-moving weekend takes you on a whirlwind combination tour of canoeing/kayaking/rafting/river bugging, orienteering, and climbing/abseiling. It’s fast, fun and exciting and you’ll always be in safe hands with some of the best outdoor instructors in NZ keeping an eye on you.
All you need to bring with you on this week designed specifically for you and/or your family, is enthusiasm.
Adult Adventure – Rafting
Rafting through the Taranaki landscape, learning of local history and culture and experiencing rapids of grade 2 / 3 mean that rafting is a great activity for a group of mates or as a family. Within safety levels, you may get to guide your own raft to make the experience a real fun learning experience for you and your crew mates.
TSB TOPEC is audited annually by Maritime Safety NZ to ensure that we meet industry standards.
Adult Adventure – Caving
A short drive north from TSB TOPEC to Mahoenui, and you are set to experience a wonderful underground playground. For many people Caving is an experience like no other. Crawling like a weta, spotting strange and fascinating rock formations, and turning the lights off for that stunning glow, will be some of the highlights. Caves can be selected to meet your requirements from a general walk (and crawl!) through to a tight and squeezy experience. This is an activity that will keep you talking for days, weeks and years to come.

You will cover basic ropework, equipment selection and most importantly get the chance to climb some of the North Islands’ classic routes. Bouldering, top-roping, single pitch – we guarantee you will do lots of climbing!
Learn basic skills at or around TSB TOPEC before venturing north to climb the Wharepapa South crags.
